We’ve gone Spinal Tap
We ended up recording in the new Piper’s Pub construction zone next door but for a great reason. We started at the main bar and then the soccer crowds came and jammed the place.

Things we learned:
Piper’s Pub should be on every beer tour list. Kickass food, rockin beers and the staff will blow you away with hospitality. Plus the Shepherd’s Pie will give you a foodgasm! This is the home of European greatness!

sickpuppy hit the nail on the head when he said you can tell that Pipers Pub actually cares about their customers, and that he respects it because Drew respects their customers. Some places you go into, you can just feel it. You feel welcome. I wish it was more prevalent everywhere, but it’s not. It definitely should be. Pubs, restaurants, eateries — they need to remember that they’re in the hospitality business. Drew has his finger on the button.
Drew’s running a pretty sweet operation. I love Irish pubs. We’ve got our fair share out here too, but they seem to get more authentic, the further East of here you go. Sounds like Pipers Pub has the look and feel of being in Ireland (minus the fighting).
Ploughman’s Lunch is one of my favorite go-to meals when I don’t know what I want, or don’t feel like cooking. We always keep cheese around, my homemade pickles, hard boiled eggs, and a nice thick slice of crusty bread. That and a pint of lager and I’m set.
Loved listening to you guys mowing down food. Sounds like a true gastronomic gem. The pictures are great too.
Thanks Phil! We had a blast recording there and can’t wait until the new shop is opened for Drew! Along with the huge crowds we also ran into a couple technical problems which is why I say this was like Spinal Tap. I wanted to intro with HELLO CLEVELAND!
I am flat out addicted to the shepherds pie and scotch eggs. I highly recommend these menu items to anyone going there for the first time! Drew and his staff really are top notch and I don’t think we can stress that enough. This is truly one of the great places in Pittsburgh to visit and must be a craft beer destination.
cheers!
Pipers isn’t an Irish pub
Sean is correct, nice catch. I thought I mentioned that in my reply to Phil. *DOH*
Drew does have a great vibe to his place and makes some great irish dishes but he coves the whole british Isles. I know the whole north and south Ireland and who likes to be called what (we had some serious issues on what we were going to call this show, considered Beers of the Irish Isles just to see who we could piss off).
All you need to know is that Piper’s Pub is a great bar. English, Irish, Scottish… you’re all welcome. Stop down for a football match (soccer, whatev) and celebrate your heritage.
