Well, I’m glad you finally got around to sampling the brews. I think you’d have found them better if you had them when they were fresher. The sediment in the IPA is typical for an IPA that’s been sitting on the shelf for a long time. All the hop proteins come out and you get sediment. Take any commercial IPA, let it sit for a year, and see how much hop sediment you’ll get. If you want a better sample of my homebrews, come to the BrewErie Homebrew Fest in March. I’ll have a Belgian Dubbel there, as well as an Export Stout. The Dubbel is already bottled. I’m brewing the Stout this Friday. Cheers.
I wanted to drink them back at Hotel Baghdad but sickpuppy said that we should make a show out of it. Wait, maybe it was the other way around. Honestly we were going to do this show back in August but then I got a job… and puppy got a job. We’re back on pace now though and should be recording again in the next week. We have a few show ideas that we need to plan out for our big announcement in late feb/early march.
I wont be able to go to the homebrew fest but I’ll make sure that puppy sees this message. I dont think we’re doing any beer fests on the show until at least May/June. The 2010 Beer Tour schedule has a lot of potential
King Cool Light has started to pick up reviews from beer bloggers and sites. Some reviewers like it; some not so much. But it definitely has begun to develop fans among “regular” people. You noted the lack of reviews at beeradvocate, and there aren’t many. But there are a few:
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/150/55051
But here’s the thing, and it’s the thing that really needs to be celebrated: Just like a song, everybody gets to decide for themselves whether they like the way a given beer tastes.
And that’s the way it ought to be.
Great site, guys. Cheers!
Hey now we’re regular. Sickpuppy still drinks Iron City when he’s rolling pennies for beer.
I should note that we recorded this show in December and since then I have tried King Cool Light and liked it. I wrote a review of it here:

For the style it was a bit off but very enjoyable. Would I drink it while tailgating, watching my hottie neighbor wash her mustang or mowing my lawn? Absolutely. Would I buy a case? not a chance. It was $28 at Save on Beer in Mars and for a couple dollars more I got the Victory variety pack.
I really think that this needs to go up for a blind tasking because some people will be really surprised. If you’re a beer geek going in knowing you’re drinking it you’ve already made your mind up it sucks. Me, I try everything and give it a fair shot. We’ve caught some hell because we liked the Pizza beer. Neither one of us thought it would be good and turned out we loved it.
If you or anyone would like us to review it and or sit down for an interview to talk about it shoot us an email via the web form up at the top. click About/Contact. We’re always giving things away, if you have swag or anything to throw in we’ll make it part of an upcoming contest.
cheers!
Great to hear you guys back in studio together. Hope this is the start of more in-studio shows.
Robert Downey Jr. actually received both a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination for his performance in Tropic Thunder. I know Sick Puppy hates Hollywood, pop culture, and most anything mainstream, but I agree with Spoon — great movie.
Sorry you didn’t care for the Brabant, Spoon. It’s been said many times before, but it bears repeating – sour beers are not for everyone. And if you haven’t warmed up to them by now, you’re probably never going to. I loved Brabant, but Avery’s second offering, Sui Generis Barrel-Aged Sour Ale, was even better. Rick is a really great guy, and it’s nice of him to offer beers to us that we’d have no way of tasting otherwise.
Shame you sat on Madison Bill’s beers as long as you did. Some beers don’t have a super long shelf life. IPAs are one of those, along with wheat beers, etc. I’m sure when they were fresh, they were even better.
I love when Spoon has beergasms over beers he likes. It’s my favorite part of your show.
What’s up guys, bout time you prioritized life and got back in the studio! I love it when Spoon loves a beer and gives us the Spoon Swoon ….I was cracking up on the parkway….swerve…haha. Seriously it’s been awhile, great to hear you on the air. I have to opine on the Market District situation, although Big Bird and any future big box stores that decide to sell craft beer have lower prices (for now), I don’t think most beer geeks base where they get beer strictly on price, I don’t. Good craft beer retailers work hard to seek out breweries (at least mine does) and I don’t see corporations doing this. If they do you then have the ambiance, I can drink a couple beers at Brews Brothers and I never have to show my drivers license to someone I don’t know. Market District is on jy way home and I’ve only been there twice….not into it for beer although I think anyone should be able to sell all forms of alcohol responsibly under one roof. We are way overregulated, nationally embarrassingly so. Keep up the good work guys and shoot a video!

The next show will have an ironic twist to it in regards to the whole Giant Eagle debate. If anything GE selling beer will make the smaller shops step it up a little when it comes to catering to the consumer. Some of these 6-pack shops have had it easy (in a way, I know its a business and blah blah blah hear me out). They open a store, offer beers and at the most do samplings. Up until now that was perfectly fine. Places like GE and Wegmans, while offering lower priced beverages, also have places for you to sit back and chill. Bill Sr. at 3 Sons always says “you’re not paying for ambiance here” which is true (though it is the cleanest store I have ever been in) he may need to remodel a bit and make it more welcoming than concrete walls and stackable chairs.
You want to be huge? Offer a coffee shop type setting that serves beer. Make it a classy man cave that women aren’t pushed off from because of sports shit everywhere. Offer wi-fi and have some snazzy TV’s. People want a beverage, read a paper, chill and shoot the shit while also having the option to stop in to grab a 6pack and leave.
Phil, sour beers aren’t for me. I’ve come to accept that and I’m cool with it. I really wish that we could have reviewed Bills beers earlier but unfortunately it was a case of circumstance. If we know that beers may be pushing the life cycle i may just take them and review on Hump Day Happiness.
Hutch, We would like to do more video but unfortunately the time hasn’t been available for both of us at the same time. We’re talking about doing a Ustream show soon but I would like a technology that we could conference in others. Kinda like a Talkshoe but for video. Plus we’d need to be able to cut ppl off when say Chachi decides not to wear pants.
Many times some people would like to order significant thesis project more or less about this good post at the dissertation service. Can you in case suggest the professional thesis writing services? Thank you so much.
