Hey, our Giant Eagle’s have been selling beer and wine as long as I can remember (as well as all the other
grocery stores and convenience storess). Glad to see PA. catching up, but it will be a blow to beer
wholesalers who sell by the case. They should be okay, because you can still buy a case cheaper than
4 sixers from G.E. or Wegmans. BTW, Wegmans limit is 192 oz. of beer in one check-out, which works out
to 2 sixers and 2 bombers, or just 8 bombers. However, according to the check-out gal I spoke with, we can
take our purchase out to the car, then come back in and buy another 192 oz. … an unlimited number of
times. That’s how Wegmans is doing it, don’t know if G.E. will be the same. I was just at the Erie Wegmans
today, and they re-organized the beer section completely from my last visit. Looks nice, with a huge
selection now in a long cooler, divided up into Euros, Craft, PA-Craft, and BMC stuff. The island areas are
still there as well.
Well, you finally got a Dark Lord … one up on me guys, but I don’t think it can be much better than some
of the other RIS-es that I’ve had, especially ones from Stone and Great Lakes. I might even brew one
shortly, and leave it in the secondary for a good long time, then bottle it and have it ready for this Fall or
Winter. If I had a choice, I think I’d opt for a “Kate The Great” rather than a Dark Lord anyway. So, keep
you eyes open for that one … would make a good brew for your 4th anniversary show.
Cheers, yinzas!
I’ve had the Stone and Great Lakes RIS along with many others… Dark Lord is the end all be all of RIS. I’m only speaking for the 2008 version since that’s what we had.
I’ll be in Erie for my sister’s graduation in a few weeks. I plan on hitting up Wegman’s.

in most situations it is. There’s a large markup at GE and other places that split up cases. In PA the 192 limit is a state thing
